The scholarship is not based upon financial need only.
The deadline for application is February 1st of the year in which the award is
to be made. A winner is selected by the State Society at the March
meeting. The scholarship award is paid directly to the winner's
educational institution. This 1-time award is limited to $1,000 per
student, and is not renewable. For continuing award, a candidate must
reapply each year.
A candidate must meet all of the following criteria in order to be considered
for this award:
- Be a member of the Huguenot Society of Virginia, having met all requirements for that membership,
Be a relative of a member of the Huguenot Society of Virginia.
Be a U.S. citizen.
Be a currently enrolled student at an accredited college or graduate school who
has completed at least two years of college with a 3.0 grade point average on a
4.0 scale (or equivalent).
Have satisfactorily completed at least two semesters of history which include,
at least or in part, a history of religion.
The completed Scholarship application form and its required attachments must be
mailed on or before February 1st to the Chairman of the Scholarship
Committee, whose name and address appears at the bottom of the
